Golden Globes Misses Out

If hearing the Globe nominations left you disappointed, disheartened, and generally questioning whether you even care who wins in January, you are not alone. This year’s nominations are a by the numbers, old fashioned list of insiders.  Missing from the list? Kumail Nanjiani’s The Big Sick, Mudbound scribe Virgil Wililams for his inventive storytelling, Dee Rees for Directing, Jason Bateman for Ozark, Jordan Peele for writing or directing Get Out, Tiffany Haddish for Girls Trip, and of course, the most talked about film of the year, Wonder Woman.

In terms of diversity, it’s thinly sprinkled in to the list skipping completely over key categories like Lead Actress film for both comedy and drama and Lead Actress television drama.

What have we learned from this year’s noms? That we should book a reservation for dinner out on January 8th.
